If you run more than one OS (Operating System), chances are you may be somewhat familiar with the good old boot.ini, which you can edit in Notepad to give the various flavours of OSes you run, a name you prefer, or some other option pertaining to the way the OS boots.
With the advent of Vista and now 7, Windows has not made it easy to give you options in the naming scheme of the various boot options, at least not name-wise. Nor does it give you a lot of editing capabilities, already limited in XP and prior versions of Windows.
If, for example, you have Windows 7 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit, the boot options presented to you will both be called Windows 7. This can be a bit confusing if you're not totally sure which version is which..
To make this easy to manage, (re)name and more, there's a neat little program I found very handy: EasyBCD (http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1).
Not only is it useful, it's free!
