I'm having an issue connecting my daughters Compac laptop to our wireless network. The message I get is" Windows was unable to find a certificate to log on to the network NETGEAR". This is the only machine that has this problem as we have 4 other laptops connected without any issues. What am I missing? :unsure2:

From what I can gather:
"This is caused by setting the encryption to WPA-RADIUS instead of
WPA-PSK on the client radio. Both the router and the client are
trying to find a RADIUS server with which to authenticate your system.
Switch the encryption to WPA-PSK (pre-shared key) on both ends and it
will work.

This has to be setup inside your router software, do you remember when you got your router, you setup the security and all the details? You need to go back in, find the encyption settings and change it from RADIUS to PSK.

That should fix the problem"

It may also be a case of needing to update the firmware, but that's less likely to be the problem :)

Good luck!

OK that explains it........I wonder why this laptop is different than the other 4. Thanks jjFarking.

Well I did do anything since my daughter travels a lot, no need to reconfigure everything else just for 1 laptop. She has since left and took it with her, she always lets me clean things up for her when she stops by so I just hardwired to my network to do updates and such.

True.. It may have been the configuration just on her laptop though.
I guess it doesn't exactly matter anymore now anyway, though I'd still like to know exactly why, if the method I was given wasn't quite the solution. It's good to know the answer, so that anyone else who might run into this problem, can refer to this page for the answer.

I'll keep an eye on it ;)

Cheers Buzz :)
