Excuse my ignorance in the matter, but i don't seem to be able to find a way of giving our Bandspace (in my sig) a layout (background, different interface, etc.). At least, nothing decent, and, not for less than $300. Bit of a complete rip-off if you ask me..
Any help on this matter is appreciated :P
again - sad, i know.. -.-

Well, I'm not sure if this helps you any, but have a look HERE (http://glitchpc.com/forums/view_template_home.htm).
You never know. There might be something there you can use ;)

Thanks :p
I'm not 100% sure, but i don't think i can use any of that for what we're doing on the bandspace, mainly because with the bandspace it's just HTML code put into the "about me" or "bio" section, or at least, that's what it was for other myspace page types.
apparently, myspace has gotten a bit tricky and decided that since a good layout for your "bandspace" can be the difference between gaining and losing a fan, they've changed the format or something. I have a layout i'd like to use, however, i can't find a way to use it at all, as opposed to a standard myspace personal profile, where anyone can have any layout they want.
Maybe i'm just missing something really obvious?
I'm not the only one though, Phil mentioned that it cost him and Concept of Time close to 600 pounds for their myspace layout and their band artwork, 180 pounds of which was the actual myspace cost. still a few hundred too expensive for my liking, considering, after conversion, that's about $340 here..

So.. you make your own site.
Pay for a domain name (like.. your band's name would be logical) & get it hosted. Either for free, or for a nominal amount, depending on where you go to.
There's something to be said about being in control of your own website, rather than at the mercy of some money hungry scabs profit-only interested party.

Yeah i know, but, the sad thing is that Myspace actually usually reels in more people than your own site.. We'll have our own site eventually, but that's something that an established band needs, a band that still has a growing fanbase needs something like myspace though, since it basically is free advertising.

I hear ya.
Except, you don't have to.
See, you can use the popularity of them to your own advantage.
Just think, as an example, of how many people you can already redirect from there.
Those people have friends (one must presume, at least some of those would have), whom can also be redirected. Et cetera, et cetera.
Word of mouth, even electronically, is very powerful ;)

Well yeah obviously, but even so. Most band i know of still update their myspace, sometimes daily, and have a link to their real site on the myspace, and a link to the myspace on their real site. Myspace has come a long way from being a site for those who need friends

.. to?
A site for those who shouldn't have them?
I hear ya though.
An established site is usually an easier stepping-stone than a brand new one.
BTW: "Any and all feedback is appreciated!"

I think that's hilarious because MySpace was originally creating for promoting bands. Welcome back, by the way. It's good to see you around here again!
I've never heard of people actually paying money for a MySpace layout. Just ask any teenage girl to do it and she'll whip something up in a few minutes. Heh. I don't know how much things have changed, but it used to be as simple as going to http://www.pimp-my-profile.com/ and pasting the HTML code into your profile. If it's not too your liking, editing it is about as easy as changing colors in CSS. But like I said, I don't know how much things have changed.

Ahh true, i have tried a few of those "pimp-my-profile" type sites, but apparently it's different coding on a bandspace to on a normal profile, and the same codes don't work. But! i'll try a few different ones in different spots anyway :P
