Question Internet slow on Linux but fast in Windows

Hi All,

I recently thought that I would give linux a go as Windows was just too slow for me. I installed Fedora 12 on a spare hard drive and set up a dual boot with Windows for when I need it. For some reason the internet is very slow in Linux (Firefox and Chrome) but fast in Windows. Downloading files works at the regular speed (or appears to be) but opening pages is very slow.

I read about changing the nameserver from that of my router (192.168.2.1) to one from my ISP but I don't know the one from my ISP (Plusnet)

Any help will be appreciated

To find out your External IP or the IP your ISP gave you try this site. I wouldn't suggest changing your router IP to your External IP though. You could cause an IP conflict. Outside of that, I'm thinking it might be a driver issue. Because I know when I run Ubuntu Linux on my HP laptop my Wireless internet is slower than it is when I run my XP partition.
